Douglas Mitchell Sports Arena, U.B.C, Vancouver, BC:

Located on the campus of the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, the arena is a year-round sport, recreational and multi-use facility that serves both the needs of the U.B.C. athletics and the surrounding U.B.C. community.

The project entailed the addition of a new 6,650 seat ice rink, and a new practice arena which were used in the 2010 Winter Olympics. During the Olympic Games, the multi-use facility was the secondary venue for the men’s and women’s ice hockey games and the primary venue for all of the sledge hockey games in the 2010 Winter Paralympics.  As the Arena meets both Olympic and NHL size requirements, it has the capability to host future international events.
